Upper Main Line YMCA
Join us for third annual Holi Festival. We have need for volunteers at catering tables, craft tables, our chalk area in front of Carriage House, and for help with check in and directing attendees where to go. The Festival will include food, music, art and a celebratory Color Throw at the very end. Be prepared to get messy! Volunteers are encouraged to wear white clothes that they are ok to get color on during the throw.

Help Y staff create a fun activity for all during this community event. Help with set up, activities, and clean up. Check out the calendar below to view available shifts. If you are under the age of 14 and want to volunteer, a guardian or responsible adult must register to volunteer alongside you for the duration of the event. Please include first name and last name of the youth volunteer in the comments section at sign up. Volunteers are asked to stay until 2pm to assist with break down and cleanup of the event. Come one come all to one of the best days of the year: Healthy Kids Day! Volunteers are needed with event set up, activities, and breakdown. The day is all about staying healthy while having fun with kids and their families. Core hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Click on the blue sign-up button below. During the event, we are also hosting a collection drive in collaboration with the Chester County Food Bank. We encourage participants and volunteers to bring most needed pantry items such as jelly, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned spam, canned fruit, prepared meals such as canned chili or Chef Boyardee meals (no glass or expired items). Consider including non-food items that are not able to be purchased using SNAP (food stamps) such as personal hygiene (e.g. deodorant/toothpaste), feminine hygiene (e.g. tampons/pads), diapers, toilet paper, paper towels/tissues, and paper plates/cups. We are looking for committed volunteers to support programs, activities, and special events for community members with disabilities. Learn more about adaptive programming at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: ymcagbw.org/adaptive-programs-ymca. The current offerings include: Open Doors: Select Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please note that the YMCA of Greater Brandywine does not pay for admission/activity fees during off-site activities for volunteers. Lego Club: Select Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. A PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI fingerprinting (or Signed Waiver if you have lived in the state of PA for 10 years or more), and the completion of a brief Child Abuse Prevention Training Video are required in order to volunteer for this program. After sign-up, the system will prompt you with next steps on how to complete these credentials. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. All clothing must reflect the YMCA core values. The YMCA provides care for young children while their grown-ups are participating in programs on-site at our Y. We also offer childcare during our Parents Night Out events, where children are dropped off in our care while their grown-ups enjoy some time together. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers to support the UMLY Swim Team coaching staff. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of swimming, help young athletes develop their skills, and support a positive team environment. Volunteers will assist lead coaches with practices, meets, and social events, help improve swimmers’ skills both in and out of the water, and encourage a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all athletes. The swim season runs year-round from September to July, with practices on weekday evenings and some weekends, as well as opportunities to help at weekend meets throughout the season. Meet new people and support fun, creative ways to stay healthy with fellow community members. Schedules vary by individual programs and events. Join us this theater season as a volunteer! Volunteers assist with positions such as marketing and ticket sales, playbill distribution, concessions, set building, costumes, and backstage support. If your child is participating in show, we highly encourage you to get involved as a volunteer. Volunteers play an essential role in our performances each year. And it is so much fun! See below for the different positions available throughout the fall performance season. Volunteers are also needed on Sundays to help with painting, costume organization, and creation of decorations for the stage. Join the Y team as a youth sports volunteer! We are looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help coach and support our practice and game day sessions. Leagues are typically eight-week programs focusing on fun, while teaching team play and basic skills. For coaches, volunteering requires an 8-10 week commitment for the season. Practices take place in the evenings Monday through Thursday, and games take place on Saturday mornings. Clinics and Summer Sessions typically take place 2-3 evenings during the week. You must be 18 years of age to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, but positions are available for minors to volunteer as team volunteers as well as clinic volunteers.
