Upper Main Line YMCA
Night to Shine is a prom night experience for individuals with disabilities, organized annually by the Tim Tebow Foundation. For many years, participants in our adaptive programs have attended this unforgettable event, which fosters inclusion, joy, and self-esteem for individuals who may not always have access to such celebrations. This prom has a profound impact, offering attendees a chance to shine and feel celebrated in a space designed for their enjoyment and dignity. The Upper Main Line YMCA will be hosting a pre-party for attendees, and we are looking for volunteers to help create and support the magic! Our branches across the association will be preparing posters and corsages on January 19th for our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. We’re hosting a special pre-prom party for our Open Doors participants on Friday, February 13th, 2026, and we need your help to make it a night to remember! Open Doors participants will enjoy a pampering and celebratory send-off from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. before heading to the Night to Shine prom. This event is all about helping them look and feel their absolute best while creating an atmosphere of joy and excitement! Volunteer Roles Include: Hair & Makeup Stations: Help participants get glammed up for the evening. Shoe Shining: Make sure their shoes sparkle and shine! Dress Prep & Steaming: Assist with steaming and prepping dresses so everyone looks their best. Dinner Service: Help serve a delicious pre-prom dinner to participants. Cheering Section: Be part of the excitement as we cheer participants on as they leave for the prom! Night to Shine Buddy: Accompany one of our Open Doors Participants to the event! Round trip transportation provided. Your time and enthusiasm will make a huge difference in creating a magical experience for our participants as they prepare for their unforgettable night.

Join us at UMLY's annual Christmas Festival. Santa and one of his reindeer make their annual visit to Upper Main Line YMCA's Holiday Artisan Village. Event runs Saturday, December 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Volunteer shifts are from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers can help with one of our fun activities including Holiday Craft Workshops, Reindeer Games, Santa's Cottage, and more! Volunteers should be PREPARED FOR OUTDOOR WEATHER and also DRESSED FESTIVELY. You are part of the Holiday Magice that makes this festival a hit every year! This event is outdoors in December. Please dress in layers and be prepared to be outside for the duration of the event. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. All clothing must reflect the YMCA core values. Shirts must cover undergarments. Swimsuits may only be worn in the pool area. Sneakers or active footwear, as well as acceptable active attire, are required in the other areas of the facility.

Holiday Cheer at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine is a season of outreach to the community which provides an opportunity for in-kind donors to collect items for local families. Our goal is to provide each household who applies to the program with one complete meal kit, one $25 retail gift card, and 2-4 gift items for each child. Items will be picked up at the YMCA during a distribution event (for Holiday Cheer families only: registration is required). Help is needed to sponsor Meal Kits, Gift Cards, and Holiday Shop Items. We are looking for committed volunteers to support programs, activities, and special events for community members with diverse abilities. The current offerings include: Open Doors: Select Fridays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please note that the YMCA of Greater Brandywine does not pay for admission/activity fees during off-site activities for volunteers. Lego Club: Select Wednesdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Click on the schedule below to sign up to volunteer. A PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI fingerprinting (or Signed Waiver if you have lived in the state of PA for 10 years or more), and the completion of a brief Child Abuse Prevention Training Video are required in order to volunteer for this program. After sign-up, the system will prompt you with next steps on how to complete these credentials. The YMCA provides care for young children while their grown-ups are participating in programs on-site at our Y. We also offer childcare during our Parents Night Out events, where children are dropped off in our care while their grown-ups enjoy some time together. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers to support the UMLY Swim Team coaching staff. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of swimming, help young athletes develop their skills, and support a positive team environment. Volunteers will assist lead coaches with practices, meets, and social events, help improve swimmers’ skills both in and out of the water, and encourage a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all athletes. The swim season runs year-round from September to July, with practices on weekday evenings and some weekends, as well as opportunities to help at weekend meets throughout the season. Help Y staff create a fun activity for YMCA member families. Help with set up, activities, and clean up. If you are under the age of 14 and want to volunteer, a guardian or responsible adult must register to volunteer alongside you for the duration of the event. Join the Y team as a youth sports volunteer! We are looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help coach and support our practice and game day sessions. Leagues are typically eight-week programs focusing on fun, while teaching team play and basic skills. For coaches, volunteering requires an 8-10 week commitment for the season. Practices take place in the evenings Monday through Thursday, and games take place on Saturday mornings. Clinics and Summer Sessions typically take place 2-3 evenings during the week. You must be 18 years of age to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, but positions are available for minors to volunteer as team volunteers as well as clinic volunteers.
