Jennersville YMCA
Holiday Cheer at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine is a season of outreach to the community. In-kind donors collect items for local families in need of support during the holiday season. Our goal is to provide each household who applies to the program a complete Meal Kit and $25 retail gift card. Our goal is to provide each child with 3 new gifts based on the age range that the families provided in their application. Items will be picked up at the YMCA during the distribution event for registered families, followed by a community distribution of the final items while supplies last. We hope to support 1,000 households and 2,500 children this year. Click on the blue "volunteer" button in the calendar to sign up to help distribute Meal Kits on November 19th and/or Gifts on December 17th to families who have applied to our program. We are looking for committed volunteers to support programs, activities, and special events for community members with disabilities. The current offerings at the branch include: Open Doors, adaptive sports, social programming, unified programming, and more. After sign-up, the system will prompt you with next steps on how to complete your credentials based on the role you select. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. The YMCA provides care for young children while their grown-ups are participating in programs on-site at our Y. We also offer childcare during our Parents Night Out events, where children are dropped off in our care while their grown-ups enjoy some time together. Volunteering in this area is a fun, interactive way to strengthen our community. Join us! Schedules typically run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and select Friday evenings. After completion and review of your project application in the portal, you will be able to view and sign up for specific shifts. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. Support Y staff with creating fun activities for YMCA families and youth. Help is needed with program set up, activities, and clean up. Join us this theater season as a volunteer! Volunteers assist with positions such as marketing and ticket sales, playbill distribution, concessions, set building, and backstage support. If your child is participating in show, we highly encourage you to get involved as a volunteer. Volunteers play an essential role in our performances each year. And it is so much fun! Please note: We do require additional clearances for parents serving as chaperones during performances. Join the Y team as a youth sports volunteer! We are looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help coach and support our practice and game day sessions. Leagues are typically eight-week programs focusing on fun, while teaching team play and basic skills. For coaches, volunteering requires an 8-10 week commitment for the season. Practices take place in the evenings Monday through Thursday, and games take place on Saturday mornings. Clinics and Summer Sessions typically take place 2-3 evenings during the week. You must be 18 years of age to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach. You must be 14 years of age or older to be a Game Day Volunteer. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. All clothing must reflect the YMCA core values. Shirts must cover undergarments. Swimsuits may only be worn in the pool area.
