If you are under the age of 14 and want to volunteer, a guardian or responsible adult must register to volunteer alongside you for the duration of the event. Get ready for some deep cleaning and organizing! Help the YMCA with projects to spruce up the branch. Click on the calendar below to sign up for a shift that works for your schedule. Closed toed shoes are required, as well as clothing that can get dirty or stained from projects. All cleaning materials (and PPE such as gloves, etc., when needed) when needed will be provided by the Y. Under the age of 16? Contact our Director of Volunteer Engagement to learn about opportunities for our younger volunteers lmackiewicz@ymcagbw.org. The Kennett Area YMCA Advisory Board, along with several leadership committees, provide feedback and guidance to the branch Executive Director and their team. Through our board and the committees, we live out our mission: to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy mind, body and spirit for all. Together, we are strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Advisory board members and committee members attend recurring meetings (typically monthly). Be a voice for your Y and help us put our mission into action. We are looking for individuals to help support activities, classes, and programs for our ForeverWell population (active adults 55 years of age and older). Meet new people and support fun, creative ways to stay healthy with fellow community members. Schedules vary by individual programs and events. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. Join the Y team as a youth sports volunteer! We are looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help coach and support our practice and game day sessions. Leagues are typically eight-week programs focusing on fun, while teaching team play and basic skills. For coaches, volunteering requires an 8-10 week commitment for the season. Practices take place in the evenings Monday through Thursday, and games take place on Saturday mornings. Clinics and Summer Sessions typically take place 2-3 evenings during the week. You must be 18 years of age to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach, but positions are available for minors to volunteer as team volunteers as well as clinic volunteers. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. All clothing must reflect the YMCA core values. Shirts must cover undergarments. Swimsuits may only be worn in the pool area.
